Friday, March 15 is the 60th day of the 2019 legislative session. There are 50 days left in lawmakers’ per diem expenses. Unlike other states, Iowa does not have a statutorily-mandated adjournment date; we only quit paying lawmakers’ expenses, which acts as a subtle prompt for House and Senate leaders to come to agreement and end their work for the year.

Friday, April 5 is the second funnel deadline, which will narrow leadership’s focus to some remaining significant policy bills, non-controversial bills, any tax or fee proposals and the budget.

Bills to Watch: SF 63 ; SF 341, SSB 1053, HSB 116, SF 463, HF 638, HF 269, SF 335, SF 351, SF 549
